emSigner Release Notes: November 2024

New Features

Region: GLOBAL

  1. Hybrid Signing

  • Feature Overview: Hybrid Signing introduces the ability to combine both serial (sequential) and parallel (simultaneous) signing processes within a single document workflow. Previously, users had to choose either serial or parallel workflows exclusively, but now both options can coexist, allowing different signers to follow different paths within the same signing process. • Benefit: This provides increased flexibility in managing complex document approval scenarios. For example, in a large organization, certain departments might need to sign documents in a specific order (serial signing), while others can sign concurrently (parallel signing).

  • Use Case: Imagine a contract that requires approval from a project manager, finance team, and legal department. The project manager might need to sign first, followed by finance, while the legal team can sign at the same time as finance. Hybrid Signing allows for this exact workflow, streamlining the process.

  1. Mandated Location

  • Feature Overview: This feature mandates that users must enable location sharing before proceeding with signing a document. The goal is to verify the physical location of the signer to ensure they are in an authorized or compliant region. If location services are not enabled, the signing process cannot proceed. The option to enable this feature is available in the advanced settings for the Super Admin.

  • Benefit: This feature helps organizations comply with regional regulatory requirements that may demand signers to be present in a specific location when signing.

  • Use Case: In certain industries or regions, legal frameworks require that digital documents be signed within specific geographies (e.g., country boundaries). This feature ensures compliance by confirming that the user is physically located within these regions, preventing signatures from unauthorized or prohibited locations.

  1. MSC Trustgate Digital Signature for Malaysia via MyTrust ID

  • Feature Overview: This integration enables users in Malaysia to digitally sign documents through MSC Trustgate using MyTrust ID, aligning with local regulatory requirements and ensuring compliance with Malaysia’s Digital Signature Act. • Benefit: The MSC Trustgate Digital Signature feature provides users in Malaysia with a convenient, secure, and compliant signing solution.

  • Use Case: A Malaysian financial services firm uses MSC Trustgate Digital Signature through MyTrust ID to process contracts and agreements with clients. By enabling clients to sign electronically, the firm reduces turnaround time, enhances security, and ensures that all signatures meet local legal standards.

  1. emSigner Integration with TrustedX Signing

  • Feature Overview: This integration allows emSigner users to leverage TrustedX signing for secure and compliant digital signatures. TrustedX is a trusted digital identity and signature platform that adheres to stringent security standards and regulations to implement high-assurance digital signing workflows within emSigner. Please note that this is a VAS based service and is made availabe as per the requirement.

  • Benefit: Users benefit from a streamlined signing process with TrustedX’s robust identity verification and secure signature capabilities, reducing the need for manual processing and minimizing security risks.

  • Use Case: A European bank uses the emSigner and TrustedX integration to manage customer agreements and internal approvals. By enabling qualified electronic signatures, the bank ensures that each signed document meets EU regulations under eIDAS, maintaining high security and legal standing.

  1. Content Security Policy (CSP)

  • Feature Overview: The implementation of Content Security Policy (CSP) headers is a security enhancement designed to protect the application from certain web vulnerabilities, such as Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) and data injection attacks. CSP defines which content (scripts, styles, images, etc.) is allowed to be loaded on the web application, preventing unauthorized or malicious content from being executed.

  • Benefit: By limiting the sources from which content can be loaded, CSP significantly reduces the risk of client-side attacks, safeguarding sensitive user data and ensuring that the site is only interacting with trusted sources.

  • Use Case: In an enterprise environment, where security is paramount, CSP provides an extra layer of defense against malicious attempts to compromise the platform. For example, it can block scripts from unauthorized third-party domains, ensuring that users interact only with safe, verified content.

  1. Free Trial User Journey

  • Feature Overview: The onboarding process for new users has been revamped to make the free trial experience smoother and more intuitive. First-time users are guided through an overlay that provides step-by-step instructions on key actions like uploading documents, adding form fields, and sending documents for signatures. The goal is to simplify the learning curve and help users get started quickly.

  • Benefit: This enhancement reduces confusion for new users, providing a frictionless experience. By offering clear guidance and a more user-friendly interface, it helps users to understand the application’s core functionalities without needing external help or documentation, ensuring they can utilize the platform effectively from the start.

  • Use Case: A user signing up for a free trial to evaluate the platform can now follow an interactive guide to complete their first document signing without getting overwhelmed by the platform’s features.

Region: INDIA

  1. Fingerprint Signing

  • Feature Overview: This feature allows users to electronically sign documents using their fingerprints, providing an additional layer of security and convenience. A compatible biometric device must be connected to the user’s system, and the necessary drivers should be installed for the feature to work. The fingerprint is used exclusively during the signing process and is not stored or retained by the system, which guarantees user privacy. Please note that this is a VAS based service and is made availabe as per the requirement.

  • Benefit: Fingerprint Signing makes the signing process more secure and reduces the reliance on traditional signatures or PINs, which can be forgotten. This method offers a higher level of authentication, as fingerprints are unique to each user.

  • Use Case: A company might use fingerprint signing for employees working in secure environments or in highly regulated industries (e.g., healthcare, finance) to ensure that only authorized individuals are signing critical documents. It offers ease of use while maintaining the highest levels of security.
