Electronic and Digital Signatures
Two ways to sign: simple intent-based methods or cryptographically secure signatures.
Electronic Signature
A basic digital signing method, examples include:
Typing your name in a signature box
Pasting an image of your signature
Clicking a “Sign” button
Electronic signatures show intent but usually lack strong identity verification.
Digital Signature
A secure form of e-signature using cryptographic technology and PKI.
Key points:
Issued by licensed Certificate Authorities (CAs)
Linked to a unique Digital Signature Certificate (DSC)
Provides encryption, authentication, and tamper-evidence
Becomes invalid if the document is altered after signing
Note: Both types can be legally valid, but digital signatures are required for sensitive/regulated documents.
