### Qualified eSignature (eIDAS)

The Qualified eSignature (eIDAS) allows users to sign documents using a qualified digital certificate that complies with eIDAS regulations within the European Union.\
This signature type provides the highest level of legal assurance and is commonly used for regulated, high-trust, and legally binding transactions.

### Enable Qualified eSignature (Prerequisite)

Before the Qualified eIDAS signature can be used in any workflow, it must be enabled by the administrator.\
This enablement is managed separately for internal users and external users.

#### Internal Users

* The administrator must enable Qualified Signature (eIDAS) from their Profile → Signature Type.
* While creating or editing an internal user, the administrator must explicitly grant permission for Qualified eIDAS signature to that user.

Only internal users with this permission can be assigned or use the Qualified eIDAS signature.

#### External Users

* From Settings → Advanced Settings → External User Signature Type, the administrator must enable Qualified Signature (eIDAS).
* Once enabled, this signature type becomes available for external participants during envelope creation.

### Configure Qualified eIDAS Signature During Envelope Creation

After the required permissions are enabled, the document initiator can configure the Qualified eIDAS signature while adding participants to an envelope.

Steps:

1. Create a new envelope.
2. From Add Participants, select the required internal or external user.
3. Under Participant will sign with, select Qualified Signature (eIDAS).
4. Save the participant configuration and proceed with the workflow.

The Qualified eIDAS option is shown only for users who have been granted the required permission.

### Signing Using Qualified eIDAS Signature

When it is the participant’s turn to sign the document:

1. The user is redirected to the eIDAS signing page.
2. The user authenticates using their qualified identity credentials (such as national eID or identity-based login).
3. After successful authentication, the system always prompts for SMS-TAN verification as part of the qualified signing process.
4. Upon successful SMS-TAN validation, the qualified signature is applied to the document.
