# Session

A session represents a secure, time-bound interaction between a user and the emSigner platform. Sessions manage authentication context, signing state, and user actions during document execution. Session controls help prevent unauthorized access, replay attacks, and incomplete or abandoned transactions.

emSigner platform has been configured with the **15 minutes session timeouts** and also pops up the session extender before the session timeout to prevent the discontinuity of signing activity.
