# eMaterai
emSigner supports seamless integration with eMaterai, enabling users to digitally affix legally valid electronic stamp duty to documents as part of the signing workflow. This ensures compliance with applicable regulations while keeping the entire process paperless and secure.
#### What is eMaterai?
eMaterai is an electronic stamp duty mechanism issued by authorized providers and is legally equivalent to physical stamp paper. It is commonly used for agreements, declarations, and other legally binding documents that require stamp duty.

### Linking an eMaterai Account
Before using eMaterai in documents, users must link their authorized eMaterai account with emSigner.
To link your eMaterai account:
* From Settings, navigate to your Profile.
* Locate the Linked eMaterai Account section.
* Enter your eMaterai account credentials (Username and Password).
* Select the Authorized Distributor from the list.
* Click Verify and Save.
Once verified, the eMaterai account is securely linked to your emSigner profile and available for use in document workflows.

### Using eMaterai in Document
After linking the account, eMaterai can be added directly to documents during document initiation.
Placing the eMaterai component:
* Initiate an envelope.
* In the Fields and Components panel, select eMaterai.
* Drag and drop the eMaterai component onto the required location in the document.
* Position and resize it as needed, similar to other components (signature, text, date, etc.).
The eMaterai component is now associated with the document and will be applied during signing.

### eMaterai During Document Signing
When the document is initiated and sent for signing:
* Participants complete the signing process as configured.
* Upon successful completion of signing, the eMaterai is affixed automatically to the document.
* The applied eMaterai is visible in the final signed document.
No additional action is required from the signer to apply the stamp.

### Deduction and Usage Tracking
* Each eMaterai applied is deducted from the linked eMaterai account.
* Deduction happens only after successful signing.
* If sufficient balance is not available in the linked account, eMaterai application will fail and the document cannot be completed.
